Our story

Founder Finance started in 2020 as a set of internal reference notes used to explain financial terms to first-time founders we worked alongside. We noticed how much confusion came from jargon rather than the underlying ideas, and decided to publish plain-language versions openly.

Since then, the project has grown into a library of guides covering runway, cap tables, fundraising mechanics and financial reporting. We remain a small, editorially independent team and are not affiliated with any venture fund, bank, or accounting firm.

What guides us

Editorial principles

Neutral framing

We describe how startup finance mechanics work rather than telling founders how to run their companies.

Clear worked examples

Where a concept benefits from numbers, we use simple, illustrative examples rather than abstract formulas alone.

No paid services

We do not sell courses, advisory retainers, fundraising support, or any other paid product.

Where we work from

Based in Košice, Slovakia

Our editorial team works from a small office in Košice, in eastern Slovakia. Content is written and reviewed in English for an international readership of founders and early-stage operators.
